Intricate Details
In the autumn of 2021, Marie Fahlin began a choreographic exploration together with the museum staff and the Dance Unit of Region Uppsala. The investigation focused on the movement patterns of the museum staff in connection with the handling of artworks. Intricate Details is an extension of that work, and in this piece, the dancers are inspired by the exhibited artworks and by how the museum staff handle them. The dancers move through choreographed material in repetitions, re-takes, loops, and variations. Abstracted gestures, highlighted details, and discovered relationships create an ongoing and shifting interplay between bodies and objects.
In parallel, sound artist Anna-Karin Brus has collected sounds from the objects, the staff, and the visitors using contact microphones and cassette recorders. Like an echo of the choreography, repetitions, re-takes, loops, and variations are used. The sounds are woven together into an invisible tapestry that adds an extra dimension to the experience of the exhibition.
